Earlier this year, WorkFusion introduced our AI-powered Digital Workforce. The Digital Workers are continuously learning and improving with every assignment and interaction and are designed to deliver powerful results to reduce costs, speed compliance and enhance customer experience. These knowledge workers arrive on the job fully trained and immediately productive, working seamlessly side-by-side with traditional human team members.
We recently rolled out the next generation of our Digital Workforce with the release of WorkFusion 10.2.5. This latest release focuses on three key product enhancement areas:
- Ease-of-use
- Cloud enablement
- WorkFusion Network
“A lot of our development has been around making both our user interface (UI) and technology platform easier to use. We really focused on taking the more complex steps that were traditionally done by an automation or a machine learning engineer and put more of those into our UI to enable low-code or citizen development,” said Tina Rho, VP of Product Management for WorkFusion.
“Additionally, we are continuously focusing on the WorkFusion Network, which is our cloud-based collaborative environment. Not only can you download and configure Digital Workers from this area, but this is where we’re going to have continuous and shared learning. And finally, we are empowering our customers on their cloud journey. We have been focused on improving our cloud enablement and making it easier to deploy in the cloud to automatically configure cloud environments and working with the major cloud vendors,” she added.
5 Key Benefits of WorkFusion 10.2.5
1. Solution Catalog: Easy to install or download Digital Workers all in one place
As part of WorkFusion Network, our brand-new Solution Catalog makes it simple to browse, download, install, and configure your Digital Workers in one environment. Instead of relying on a machine learning engineer (MLE) to handle this setup process, the Solution Catalog is a self-service UI, so anyone on your team can get your Digital Workers up and running quickly and easily.
2. ML Labs: Low-code/no-code, user-friendly Digital Worker training
One of the big things WorkFusion will always focus on is enabling machine learning models and machine learning to be embedded into our Digital Workers. It’s a differentiator for us, and it’s something we continue to focus on.
Up until now, you’ve likely been collecting data through human-in-the-loop, and automatically retraining ML models on that data. You’ve relied on an MLE to set up the end-to-end process of a complex ML workflow. But now, with our new ML Lab, business users have much more power, control, and capability at their fingertips. With its low-code UI, ML Lab allows you to create and manage more complex ML workflows with multiple datasets pulled from multiple sources — while also allowing you to label your data.
ML Lab also enables you to select, create, and download multiple ML pipelines. Previously, you would have selected between one or two ML pipelines available out-of-the-box. An MLE may have granted you access to more pipelines in our AutoML SDK. But this new UI makes all the major model pipeline types available, such as information classification, information extraction, checkbox extraction, signature detection, etc. Now you can choose from more pipelines, and even string them together.
In the past, you were limited to the pipeline and dataset you created through a business process. Now with a flexible, collaborative interface between engineers and business users, an engineer can add any pipeline they like, and business users can test, train, and label datasets themselves — all in one environment, ML Lab.
3. Cloud-Enablement: Two new cloud operating models, faster time to value
There are many benefits to cloud-based access to our Digital Workers including faster time to value, a frictionless purchasing process, and reduced costs associated with maintaining an in-house environment.
In addition to maintaining our customer-owned and operated environments, we’ve released our new cloud-based models (hosted by AWS and Google Cloud): SaaS and managed service. For the former, customers can deploy both custom automation and WorkFusion Digital Workers. Whereas in SaaS, only Digital Workers are available. Moving between the two cloud environments is seamless and straight-forward.
With managed service, WorkFusion sets your environment scale, ensures we hit committed SLAs, upgrades platform versions, and validates your business processes before we load them into the environment.
As part of our focus on cloud enablement, we have recently partnered with Google Cloud Marketplace.
Two major benefits to customers:
- Digital Workers will now be available for purchase on Google Cloud Marketplace.
- Customers can use transaction costs to burn down commitments to Google Cloud.
Read more about our partnership with Google and what it means for customers.
I see a future where all of our customers are deployed in a WorkFusion-hosted environment, whether it’s a Managed Service or a SaaS model. For most customers, deploying and maintaining the on-premise or private cloud environment can be challenging. We can essentially take on that maintenance for our customers to reduce the burden,…to make it a more seamless experience.
4. Manual Task Designer: Simpler, faster design for creating manual tasks
“Our new Manual Task Designer is all about creating the best possible user experience for the Ops team,” says Account Executive Ryan Buttacavoli, “which makes the program so much more successful with business teams.” While business users have traditionally been able to create simple, straight-forward manual tasks, they needed to enlist a front-end engineer for more complex layouts with line items, tables, etc. After surveying several customers about this limitation, we created a new Manual Task Designer.
Now, a business user can perform more complex work like setting data validations, creating multiple tables, or setting an output type for each field. When more complex work is in the hands of non-engineers, there is more adaptability and sustainability for your business over time.
5. Tech Improvements: Synchronous API, REST connectors and more
Until now, WorkFusion’s API only worked asynchronously, unless you had a custom implementation. Starting in 10.2.5, we also allow a real-time, synchronous API, which means faster response time for transactions. This enables customers to do real-time, rather than batch-based, transactions.
Additional improvements:
- Additional OCR providers: Azure Form Recognition and Google Vision API
- Improved accessibility: Using Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
- Improved Python dependency management: Improved installation of Python dependencies
- ODF 2.0: Improved configurations, frameworks for email ingestion, dependency injection, simplified RPA archetype
